Question:
Has anyone had problems with low blood sugar?
I am over 4 years post op. I do watch my carbs and sugar but sometimes my blood sugar drops really low. I never had this problem before. My new doctor said it is due to the RNY and to watch closely what I eat. — bikermama (posted on August 22, 2012)

Yes, I have had the same problem. And the funny thing is the cure for low
blood sugar is to eat sugar, but with the rny if you eat sugar you get
dumping. So it is a catch 22. The best thing that works for me is to drink
4 oz of orange juice to bring up the sugar level quickly, but follow that
with some kind of protein like a piece of cheese or a hard boiled egg. That
way you can keep the sugar level at a safe number. The protein will keep it
there longer. I hope that helps you.

That also happened to me, I find that if I eat twice as often and half as
much each time my sugar level stays more level.
