Question:
Stircture Hell

I am writing concerning my husband. He had surgery almost 2yrs ago and was doing well, with the exception of vomitting on occasion. Now, for the past 3 months, he has been stretched twice, because he was not keeping anything down. He is now below his ideal weight and again throwing everything up. I'm at my wits end. I'm fed up with his surgeon for not rectifying the problem. My husband becomes dehydrated and very weak because he can't keep anything down. Is this common and what should we do? I want him to get another opinion, but he's an over the road truck driver and it's not easy to get Dr appointments that are convenient for him. Any ideas?    — Dawn_Rich (posted on August 18, 2010)

I suggest Having his gall bladder looked at... and becoming dehydrated is not normal... definitely get him to a DR ASAP! I had the surgery jan 29 2010 and i had real bad problems with my gall bladder which is now scheduled to come out sept 17 2010 when i was going through a gall bladder attack i would first become dehydrated then the throwing up wold start then the weight would come off so fast! i am at 6 months and lost 80 percent of my weight which shouldnt have happened that fast! so ya i would definitely take hm to the DR ASAP!

Hi there. That's pretty scary for sure. I had a VSG surgery 2 years ago and I don't think this problem is related to that surgery but, I have read on here many times that it is quite common to have gall bladder problems after weight loss surgery. And I have had my gall bladder removed back about 10 years ago. I remember how ill I was ALL the time. I finally got to where I couldn't even hold down water. All I did was vomit and became so dehydrated that my lips turned blue. I had been diagnosed as having the flu cause it was going around terribly at the time. Mis-diagnosis almost killed me. Nothing your husband is going through is normal. PLEASE get him to another doctor immediately!!! I understand about his hectic schedule but, his life is more important than his schedule! He needs to see another doctor and have his gall bladder checked. His surgeon only knows to look for things regarding the weight loss surgery. And I don't think what he is going through has anything to do with his WLS. Take care and I will say a prayer for him!

I agree that this is not normal. I am going to suggest something a little back door. One way to get him looked at by someone else would be to go to the ER at a different hospital. Make sure they know that he is a WLS patient and they should get him in to the correct tests. I know it sounds strange but it worked for a friend of mine.
