Question:
DOES AN INGUINAL HERNIA AFFECT BARIATRIC PATIENTS ANY DIFFERENT THAN OTHERS
YEARS AGO I HAD A HERNIA REPAIR FOR AN INGUINAL HERNIA ON MY LEFT SIDE . I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THIS . SINCE MY RNY ON MARCH 19 2009 I HAVE DEVELOPED AN INGUINAL HERNIA ON MY RIGHT SIDE . I'M EXPERIENCING EXTREME PAIN AND A BURNING SENSATION I NEVER HAD WITH THE OTHER HERNIA . MY APPOINTMENT WITH THE SURGEON IS NOT UNTIL JULY 19 2010 .I KNOW I HAVE TO FIGHT THROUGH IT . BECAUSE OUR FOOD IS PROCESSED IN OUR INTESTINES DOES THIS HERNIA CAUSE US MORE PROBLEMS OR IS MAYBE IT'S A WORST TEAR . THANKS FOR LISTENING ...........ROGER COTE — ROGER COTE (posted on February 26, 2010)

Roger,
If you are having pain, on the right side, you shouldn't automatically
assume it is a hernia. Especially since you say the pain and burning is
not like it was with the other hernia. Get an emergency appointment with
your doctor, or even go to the emergency room if necessary. For anyone who
has had any type of abdominal surgery, there is always a chance for us to
have bowel problems down the road. You could have a twisted bowel, or have
lost some blood flow to a portion of your bowel. If you are in pain, you
cannot wait until July. Please get in with someone. Best wishes to you.
