Question:
Is it normal to gain a few pounds after 3 weeks of surgery? (3lbs)
I had VSG 10-20-09 and was losing well, but went away for the weekend and I was limited to lowfat cottage cheese and green beans. I am not allowed meant yet, I also had protien drinks with me for breakfast. I tried to get in my fulids. But also was unable to use the restroom while we were there. I have not cheated none other than I had trouble getting in my fulids like I should. — Kelly M. (posted on November 8, 2009)

I am 5 weeks out and for the last 1 1/2 weeks I have been going up and down
by a pound or two, so I think it is normal. My body tends to hang onto
water a little too easily!! I feel your frustration! It won't last, and
you'll be back losing soon. If you are having trouble having a bowel
movement, I suggest trying Miralax or Colace, and once you get rid of some
waste, you will lose some weight as well.

My doctor recommended weighing only once weekly, you will have fluctuations
from day to day. If you don't loose after another week or so I would
contact your surgeon.

It may be because you haven't gotten your fluids. Step up your fluid intake
(water) and you probably will get rid of those pounds.
