Question:
Question for the nurses
I noticed on one of the previous questions there are alot of nurses that visit this site. I am a RN also and looking for a group or messageboard for nurses. I have had no luck finding one on OH. Do any of you know if there is one here that I am overlooking? Thx — buggyboot (posted on March 1, 2009)

Michelle... I have been on OH for about 3 years and haven't found a site
for nurses. I am an ER/trauma nurse who is 2 1/2 years post op. Why do
you want one specifically for nurses? We all have the same problems... all
are under stress, most people have trouble finding time to eat properly and
time to exercise... while there are many areas that make us unique, I don't
think this is one of them.. maybe I am wrong??? whatdya think? Kari

Hello,
I am a nurse also. I had my RNY surgery in April 08. I have seen many
nurses post here, but have never seen a forum specifically for nurses.
There are lots of forums to choose from though.

I'm not a nurse but I've noticed that there alot of nurses answering
questions.(I think it's great because I get to learn something.) My
questions is: is there a way for you to start a group for RN's. I mean
that y'all have alot in common.

Another RN here - and no, I've not seen a group specifically for nurses
either. Lots of us here though eh? Cheers.

Please include us retired RNs. We still have a lot to contribute!

I'm an RN, too. If you find the forum you seek, let me know. Thanks.

This is a Weightloss Surgery Site in general...Surgeons, scientists and
even nurses and candy stripers have only so much knowlegdge in WLS because
it is radically DIFFERNT from the regular human anatomy that you all learn
in school...You would do MUCH better to learn from those of us WLS folks
who LIVE with our new anatomies than other docs and nurses who LEARN from
US and OUR experiences rather than from from what you read or hear about.
It would seem silly to me that a person who wants to learn about art would
want to talk to art critics rather than the meet the artist and see his
work...I think that is what you are "overlooking. You can always form
your own Nurses ONLY group! Good luck!

Michelle--you don't say if you have had the WLS surgery or are you just
trying to get educated to help your patients?

Hello,
I too am an RN and have also had open RNY last March. I answer questions
here if I feel that I know that I have something to contribute either from
being an RN or a patient. If you want to start a group for RN's I am all
for it.

Like any profession us RNs have a bond - as an RN and s/p RNY 2/28/09 would
love a site like that if it exists.

from others who have had the surgery. If you want to know more, everbody
here has been helpful in many ways. Just ask..

For those who seem to have gotten offended, I wasn't trying to put nurses
on a pedistal. There are many groups here, just haven't seen one for
nurses. Notice I didn't call the group "NURSES ONLY". I like what
Pamela had to say. Like any profession, others in the same profession are
gonna have a bond.

The "bond" statement on this board seems a bit out of context for
this board. A board where everyone is having the similar issues with one
goal at hand...to live longer and healthier. Just a thought.

I meant absolutely no disrespect to anyone with my comment. It could in no
way replace this site and our common goals. Just as there are specialty
groups of other kinds for moms, teens, athletes, etc. it would be a nice
supplement if one would exist. We DEFINITELY aren't better than anyone
else - please do not take offense.
