Information on the best deal in if you have Medicare, must read!
I live in Phoenix AZ and I have literally been searching for a surgeon who works at a center of excellence for a year and a half (for Medicare to cover it)! Now I am going to sound like I am running a commercial, but I am not, and let me tell you... Finally, I have found a hospital in Detroit , MI called Harper University Hospital, and I found this hospital through a company website called Belite Medical Weight Loss. They deal specifically with Medicare patients and only charge an out of pocket cost of about 1300.00, instead of the 6,500.00 thsat all of the surgeons in Arizona state charge! Also, they are willing to make a payment plan for everyone to pay the 1,300.00 over one year's time! Awesome! I called about 3 weeks ago and I am currently scheduled for my Lap Band on Jan 26th, so excited! Plane flight a month in advance to DTW was literally only 220.00 on Expedia. How is that for a deal??? Did I mention that their deal includes a one night stay in the hospital, and two night's stay at a hotel/recovery place called the International Hotel, plus travel to and from the airport? Andre --Hi DID you try St. Lukes Hospital ( Brigdges Center) or where in
Phx. did you try. Didn't you have secondary insurance? Would like to know
and who was the doctor in Phoenix you went to see? Thxs.

Mercy Care is my secondary, and the doc's at St Lukes no longer accept
both, although it is the only Ctr of Excellence so far, doc fees are sky
high! There is a doc who should be a ctr of excellence supposedly by mid
2009, Dr Simon @ (602)264-0910, and that is all! It has been an uphill
battle finding someone who will take both, what a joke!

It is amazing what information one can find if you really want to do
something...congrats and wishing a successful surgery. I am waiting for my
insurance to reply on the realize band...please keep us informed as to how
your surgury went and how you are doing...farmgirl58

Wow! That information sounds great for those with medicare. FYI...I
personally don't think you sound like a marketer but you definitely sound
excited. I am happy for you and please keep us updated on your WLS and

I use to work at Harper Hospital. It ist part of many hospitals that are
part of the Detroit Medical Center. I have been looking for a ticket bacsl
home for months and $220.00 is real cheap. I have medicare insurance also
and DR Schlesinger did my revision. He is in the process of getting center
of excellance himself. His phone # is 480 419 2280. But I think when you
have a revision you don't have go to to a center of excllence surgeon or
hospital. I wish you good luck on your surgery at Harper and please keep us

Welcome to Michigan!!! That's the first positive thing I've heard about
our state for a long time!! Great research. Good luck on your surgery. I
have a gastric sleeve, done on 11/6/07 in Grand Rapids, MI by Dr. James
Foote at MMPC. I've had really good luck and health since then. Only
complication was thrush from all the antibiotics. I've lost 85 lbs. and
still working on it.
