Are you eating yogurt yet? If not save this till you can. If you have
Kroger or Fry's stores in your area....Kroger has a Carb Master yogurt in
several flavors and a 6oz container contains 12 gms of protein!
Unfortunately ONLY available at the 2 stores listed. Good luck!

My post op diet consisted of everything, just pureed in the blender. Not a
pretty sight to see, be never craved a single thing. Soups were popular,
yes including the meat.

UNJURY protein shakes. Winter squash. Sweet potatoes mashed. Applesauce
or any canned fruit sans juice that can be mashed-peaches.

I practiced before my surgery so I had a lot of thing I liked. I had to
cook for the rest of my family so I found things to cook for them that I
could further process for myself. I loved acorn squash, baked with cinnium
and splenda. I would run my through the food processor, without the skin,
and add just a litle chicken broth or vegatable broth to allow it to be
realy smooth. I just used small sip lock plastic containers to hold a how
squash and I would ahve it for several meals about 2 oz at a time. I also
took water pack tuna fish with a litle cottage chease, and mayo, no surgar
type, and some relish and maybe a little pickle juice with salt and peper.
Then into the food processer and I took it to just thicker than yougart and
put it in zip lock container for several meals of 2 oz. Also liked several
other vegatables and fruits that I just food processed to death. Just
above a liquid, so I got something in my puch to stay there for an hour or
so. Stay away from Beef, chicken, lamb and pork until later as they have
too much fiber to blend well and taste good. I bought Caned Del Monte No
Sugar Added Peaches and pears, and blended them to death with their juice.
Was like apple sause, which you did not mentioned, but that also was a big
help with cinnium. Adding yougart was a good blend with several of the
fruits I did. Type small amounts and if you like it make up more for other
meals. I had about 20 different containes for the entire three weeks I had
to stay on liquids and then about 1/2 in he soft food stage for about three
weeks more. Best of success to you.

Everyone's suggestions are good...I just wanted to tell you to hang in
there...I know it may seem boring right now...but it'll get better as you
graduate up to 'soft' foods, then solid foods. Just pretend whatever
you're eating is 'medicine' and get it down. I do recommend trying some
protein drinks...check out bariatriceating.com or vistalady (or
vitalady?).com...they sell 'trial size' packs of various protein drinks so
you can find what works for you. I think unjury.com also sells trial packs
of protein drinks...and they're the only one I've heard of that has a
chicken broth/soup protein drink. all the others are
chocolate/cappuchino/strawberry something or other (the thicker protein
drinks) or juice type ones (nectar) which are thinner. You need to find
out what works for you. It's easier to find out from the sample packs than
from buying a large canister (which isn't necessarily cheap) and finding
out you can't stand it.
One other suggestion I'd make...ricotta cheese. You can add a little
artificial sweetener to it...or you can 'spice it up' by adding a little
salt, pepper and cumin to it. One of my favorite salads (2 years post WLS)
is made w/ricotta cheese, finely chopped onions, cucumbers, tomatoes and
cilantro. Add the juice of one lemon, salt and pepper and ground cumin to
taste. Sounds strange, I know...but trust me...it's wonderful on a rye
cracker. : ) Plus you get a little extra calcium w/the protein in the
cheese.

Each day and each new add on was exciting for me...as you know it does get
boring. Yogurt is great in protein, but do a little at a time as you need
to check out how the dairy reacts to you personnally. Cottage Cheese,
really runny oatmeal (they have sugar free flavors like maple brown sugar)
and mushy scrambled eggs will also help with your assortment. The flavored
no added sugar applesauces are great, too! I hope that this helps and I
will you great luck!!!

Sounds gross but tastes pretty good tomato soup with grilled cheese pureed
in it! The first couple of weeks you think you are going to go crazy
because you don't know what to eat! there is a recipe on here somewhere
with ricotta cheese and spaghetti sauce that you bake it is pretty good!
also find eggface in the profiles her website has a lot of recipes and very
helpful!

I drink v-8 juice that I heat up in the microwave. It feels like eating
real food. Also egg, tuna or chicken salads. I can't stomach anything
sweet tasting as the artificail sweeteners are too sweet for me, so I use
unjury protein powders. I have the chicken broth and unflavored. I add the
unflavored to milk and can barely taste it. Also scrambled eggs or egg
beaters. I used the medicine cup to measure out the egg beaters. Also
remember to wait the 5 minutes between bites or it feels like someone
kicked you in the gut. Good luck and congrats! I am 3 1/2 weeks out.
hugs, Kim

Pureed meats in broth with cooked veggies makes you feel like you are
getting a REAL meal...Try Fage Greek Strained Yogurt in upscale grocery
stores...It is low sugar, VERY high protein and zero to full fat. Tastes
like no other yogurt and is three times the protein and usually 1/3 the
sugar of a regular yogurt...Mix in so NSA or SF preserves or later when you
can have fresh fruits again, puree fruits for a most delicious yogurt from
heaven! Tastes like sour cream...and I use it as that too...Try eggs (egg
salad on whole wheat crackers) boiled or scrambled with a little spices or
cooked spinach or other soft veggies...Egg beaters have some great flavored
ones. (Lower fat and cals) Puree meats (canned or cooked) and add to
broths. Make chilis and beans and add broth for a chili soup...As long as
it is liquid and not heavy like a solid yet, you don't have to give up
flavor...It goes fast and before you know it, you'll be nibbling on all
kinds of stuff again!

My favorite thing (and still is for breakfast) is the Carnation Nutrition
Drink in Chocolate. I mix one packet of sugar-free chocolate with 2 cups
skim milk for a 220 calorie, 21 gram protein chocolate milk drink. It is
delish! Hope that helps!
