I had liquid vitamins, protein for protein shakes (I got these from unjury.com) but afterwards, I like the Advantage shakes from Atkins, I get them at walmart, they are cheaper there, broth, I didn't get liquid Tylenol, I ended up crushing two of them after surgery for the headache the anathesetic gave me. I never did get the pain meds fill, I just had a little discomfort from the incision where the port was located, also you can have sugar free jello & popsicyles. I just took it one day at a time after surgery because you can get out and walk and I walked at the grocery store...for things I thought I needed and mostly for the exercise. Good Luck, you will do great...

I just had surgery RnY laproscopically, 5/22, and got home yesterday. I am to be on clear liquids only - no shakes, etc. - until at least my first follow-up appt, 5/30. Clear liquids - broth, juice, sugar-free jello and popcicles. I also bought New Whey liquid protein online which is very good. Chewable calcium citrate, chewable multi-vitamin, chewable iron, and sub-lingual B-12 (all purchased through Bariatric Advantage.com. They prescibed Vicodin tablet for pain as needed (which has been almost nonexistent) and I break it in half, taking 1/2 five minutes apart, and have had no difficulty. I have been amazed at how easy it has been. Good luck, Judy

I started with a juice party (1 part 100% juice and 1 part water) for 3 days and then protein shakes for 14 days. This has helped with the need to feel full. (which is only a couple of sips).

for the first week, you really don't have to worry about your protein,,,I had water, apple juice no sugar added, cranberry juice no sugar added. You can do hot beverages too, I however, did not want anything hot, just cold cold cold. Which, I will warn, DID hurt, the first sip of water you can have after your upper GI, make it teeny tiny,,I took a sort of small gulp, & boy did that smart!! Cold hurt for the first cup of liquids for me, after that sweet sailing! Worry about your protein in a week or 2, get used to the new digestive system & pouch first!!

I will be a month this week from Lap RNY. My fave shake is still Boost Glucose Control, and sometimes I add Beneprotein to it. You can find the Boost at Walmart- ( and you can usually google some coupons for them ) and the Beneprotein, which is super easy on the tummy, and doesn't have much taste, so you can add it to anything, is available through the Walgreens website. Sorry bout the run-on sentence:) Another fave of mine is Minute Maid Lite lemonade. It is low carb ( but not completley sugar -free ) and makes for a nice treat. I didn't start vitamins till two weeks after surgery, so you may have a little time yet to do that..although I found chewable calcium citrate hard to find. I finally found a liquid version at a local grocery chain. I've heard others say they had to ask the pharmacist, and it was ordered for them. Centrum has a great chewable or liquid vitamin, and the liquid B12 and centrum were both at Walmart. Take care, and see ya slimmer!

you can try syntrax nectar whey protein powder ... I recommend the roadside lemonade or fuzzy navel(peach). You can get them online at drugstore.com and with a GNC card it's only about $22 for the cannister of pwd which mixes easily with water and makes 36 servings 90 calories 0 fat 0carbs and 23 g of protein. They mix easily in room temp water and taste good .... they are aspartame free but do contain splenda
