Question:
Can't seem to break the plateau
I'm a year and nine months out and lost 105 lbs so far, and want to to lose another 33lbs. My starting weight was 318 and now 213. I've tried everything, different and longer exercise, change eating habits, went back to basics, increased water intake. I don't know whats going on and it hard to contact my nutritionist — glennk (posted on February 10, 2008)

It's going to be more difficult to loose weight this far out from surgery.
Most weight from RNY comes off in the first 8 months or so, as that is the
"honeymoon period". After 1 1/2 years most patients have
stabilized. I suggest you try to attend bariatric support group meetings,
and pose the question to someone there. They may be able to help you. I've
seen many patients who have lost less than 100 pounds over 3 years post op.
I suspect exercise or the foods your eat may be the problem, but it would
probably be easier to discuss this with other WLS patients at these
meetings. If you have to, you could also go down to the nutritionists
office, and let them know you've tried in vain to get an answer from them.

What kind of surgery did you have? Are you tracking what you are eating?
Getting in all of your protein, and water? Are you drinking soda?
I can only tell you that my Dr rules are during the weight loss phase. Eat
meals that are 70% protein and 30% vegetables, and keep your calories
between 800-900. Drink a minimum of 64 oz of water a day. No grains,
breads or pastas, limit fruit to one serving (size of strawberry) twice a
week. No soda, or alcohol, and caffined beverages don't count toward
water.
You need to make an appointment to talk to your nutritionist and your
surgeon to talk about this, and drink more water.
Good luck
