Question:
Still throwing up after 6 months after lap band surgery.
Each time I get adjusted I go through two to three weeks of foamies and throwing up. With this last adjustment I cannot eat anything at all no matter how slow I eat or what small bites I take. I have lost 10 lbs. in 3 weeks. Tired of vomiting. Any one with this experience? — samcajun (posted on October 31, 2007)

Shelly - what size band do you have and how much fill are you getting? I
have had 3 fills and yet to fill restriction. I am still losing - but it
is slow...like 1-2 pds pr wk....I got .7 first fill - .5 second fill and .5
for the third. Perhaps you have too much restriction? CJ

I called to check on the size and it ia a 10.0 band (small). I am going to
the doctor tomorrow to have a little fluid removed again. It is just when
I have some fluid removed I eat more and am hungry more. Tired of the
yo-yo effect, but I need some nutrition.

Call your doctor - this is not mormal, you may need some extraction.

Definitely go back to the doctor and get a small amount of saline removed.
Throwing up is not good for the band or you and it is NOT fun. I know how
frustrating this is, but you will eventually get to the "sweet
spot." Sometimes you have to go back and forth with the fills, there
doesn't really seem to be any rhyme or reason - it just is. Take care and
good luck. It is worth it in the end.

Shelley, have the doctors do an upper GI on you to see if it has slipped. I
have had two slips and now am using the larger band. It sounds just like it
was for me...I pray it isn't...but you should get that checked
immediately!!
Hugs!

I am 2 years out from lapband and still hack( to me it is not puking it is
more getting stuck and having to hack it out). It does not matter if i have
4 cc in my 11cc band or 6.3 i do the same thing, just not as bad. I have
finally decided i am having the band removed and doing the bypass. I get
stuck regardless of what i eat and how little i eat and still not loosing
weight. I lost 70 lbs in 2 years , then when they had to remove all daline
because of irritation from puking, i gained 20 lbs in a month, i was not
eating sweets, drinking soft drinks or pigging out. I was eating more of
course but not gorging. Then i quit smoking, still no fill and gained 18
more lbs. This is because i was eating more, smokers know what i mean:) So
this 18 lbs was worth gaining! I am waiting on a date, but i have startede
my protein shakes and dieting today to began to shrink my liver (not per
dr, just to help in advanced and loose a few lbs in the process). I have
begun vits and preparing for the bypass. I have heard of many people who
have the revision from band to bypass because of this reason once i started
looking hard. It is not fun to puke all the time, actually it sucks. But
whatever makes you puke don't eat, slow down, chew chew chew and see if any
of this helps . Don't give up on the band until you just CAN NOT do it
anymore. This is where i am! Best of luck to you!!!
