Question:
I only lost 5lbs in a month
Today Im 4months out. So far I have lost 72lbs. Im very excited about that. What scares me is Ive only lost 5lbs this past month. I know I would slow down on losing weight but I was hoping to lose more than 5lbs in a month time. Is this normal and will I start back losing more than 5lbs in a month? — barfiep01 (posted on May 16, 2007)

I'm 5 weeks out yesterday. I lost 21 lbs. prior to surgery, at my 2 week
checkup I had lost 21.5 and at my 4 week I had lost 7 lbs. I weighed
myself on Tuesday before my dr's appt. Then I weighed myself on Thursday.
I had gained 2.6 lbs. This morning I weighed myself and I had lost what I
had gained earlier last week and also .2 lbs. I feel this is expremely
slow, of course I'm the one thinking about it all the time etc.... Some
people loose quite fast. So I can relate to your worry. Take Care

Congratulations to all of you. On the 28th of this month I will be 5mo.
post-op. Everyone looses differently. I would not worry about how much you
loose in a month. 1 mo. I had only lost 6lbs. I was dissapointed, but then
I said "at least I did not gain". To everyone whose trying to
loose weight, I know it is hard, but we have to hand in there, think
positive, and know that one day we will all be at the weight we want to be
at. My Dr. told me that I have to look at all I'm doing. I'm in the gym
Monday--Friday. I'm building muscle. I want to the weight off fast, and I
know it takes time. You all are doing a wonderful job at achieving your
goal. Keep up the Good Work!!!

It all depends on how much you need to lose as to how fast you lose it. I
am 6 months out and have lost every week except for one week (71lbs) and
am almost at goal. If you have lost 72 lbs in 4 mos you obviously have alot
more to lose. If you lose between 2-4 lbs a week you should be very happy!

WOW 72 lbs in 4 months -- I'm almost 3 mths and almost 50 lbs -- that is
MOST EXCELLENT! Don't get frustrated about the loss -- you'll slow down
and then pick up again. Just keep doing what you're doing.

Dear Dear Patricia, you have done so well. You have gone and lost most of
a person in only 4 months. Please don't look at the numbers, but just
enjoy the ride. Get out and walk, you will continue to lose. Who cares if
it is 5 pounds a month or 50? I mean who really cares? Just lose, it is
not a race. Your body has had huge adjustments in just 4 months, stop and
think about it? Don't strain over that, and just enjoy what you can lose,
and keep up the exercise during this great time of year! Best to you and
congrats! Patricia P.

I agree with everyone! Wow! 72 in 4 months? I hope I can claim anything
remotely near that when I hit 4 months. I am only 3 weeks post-op
(tomorrow) and have lost 15 pounds. I expect to lose about 20 or so in the
first month which is less than I hear many people claim, but I am pretty
happy. I know of no other way to lose 20 pounds in a month and I've tried
it all! So, I would say ... take the brief 'slow down' in stride. It's
still coming off and you're 5 pounds closer to goal! Congrats!

congrats on the wieght you've already lost and will continue to loose!!!! i
too stuggle with the low amount of wiehgt i seem to loose per month
{usually 10lbs}. however, i tell myself that everyone is different and that
weighing myself everyday or ever other day really isn't helping. make sure
you are following your Dr.'s advice, sticking to the plan, and i am sure
the wieght will come off. I am 2 1/2 months out and have lost 37lbs, i'm a
little closer to goal every day!!!!
