Question:
3 month aetna program, and how long before approval?
i am 2 weeks shy of finishing my 3 month nutritionist progrma for aetna. the office of the surgeon i am going to has said that aetna should approve it with no problem. i wanted to know if anyone has been approved for the 3 month program, and also how long it took for the insurance company to approve or deny? ALSO how long does an appeal take? THANK YOU! — Ashee (posted on July 22, 2006)

I have Aetna and did my programs and once all was submitted to Aetna I was
approved within one week. My surgeon's office took care of it all. They
were great. No problem at all.

I had Aetna and used the 3 month program to get approved. My papers were
submitted on a Thursday afternoon and I had my approval the next morning.
It was amazing at how fast they were. I was the first in my doctors office
to ever be approved on the 3 month plan. Just make sure you give them
every thing they want. I sent in a lot of information and pictures of
myself and my family to show how overweight I was. Good luck! Malena

If you have complies with all the clinical guidelines, then approval should
not take long. I have Aetna, also.

From the time I first looked into sugery until the day I got my surgery
date, it took about 18 months of fighting with Aetna. I wanted Lap Band,
which I never got approval for so I went for the Bypass. ended up with a
VBG.

I have Aetna PPO of Maryland started this journey March of this year still
waiting for my surgeon office to submit my approval letter. My Primary care
dr report was not detailed enough for the Bariatric Center. He called me on
Tuesday to tell me that he faxed a two page report. I get a call from the
surgeons nurse, saying that did not receive the report and I need to do
another sleep study. I don't know about you, but I have a $20.00 copay for
specialist.
Good luck I hope it doesn't take as long for your Aetna plan.
