Rose: I will be 2 yrs out this June. The only problem I am having is my
hair is still falling out. I am taking biotine that I got at Wal Mart.
The passing out could be caused from low blood sugar. Ck with your
surgeon...judy

ok , i havent had the night sweats , or the passing out and i am almost 2
yrs out but the lossing hair is due to not getting enough protien in your
diet each day . mine does that every day and i have to eat alot of protien
about 91 g of it . i know it is hard to keep up with ur protien intake .
but it is important

Rose,
Im alomost 18 months post opt and just recently started having the night
sweats. This doesnt happen ever night but happens often when I take in lots
of sugar or starches that day. I sweat to the point where my body and
sheets are soaked. I will be seeing my Doctor for a complete physical on
the 6th of March and will be discussing this problem with him. I have
related it to my blood sugar dropping. I think this is happening because I
started eating more carbs which I didnt do for the first year after my
surgery. When I find out more I sure will let you know.

what are your Blood sugars and have you had your thyroid checked lately?

I am four years out and experience bouts of your symptoms. They come and
go. I do have low blood sugar and a very large benign tumor on my thyroid.
My double thick hair went from not fitting into a pony tail to whispy
strands. Thankfully I have naturally curly hair and can hide the hair loss
rather well. I have just started taking flax seed meal for the hair loss.
It's way too early to tell if it makes a difference. The health food store
I went to also suggested saw palmetto for hair loss. I am too afraid to
take any kind of herbal supplements, so I passed.

Best advice I could give is see your doctor and get a COMPLETE checkup -
CBC with differential/platelet, complete metabolic panel, iron, vitamin b12
and folate, triglycerides, Thyroid (T3 uptake, TSH, thyroxine) and
prealbumin. There are SO many things that have similar symptoms and there
is no one on this site who is qualified to give you a diagnosis without
seeing actual lab results. Passing out is NOT normal. Please see your
doctor ASAP.

I can send you a complete set of labs to have your doc order for you, but
also ask him to include BOTH male and female hormone levels. If either is
out of whack, it could be causing both of those issues if it's not
nutritional. And before you don't think that is important enough to pursue,
please remember that if THOSE levels are not right, your chances of
osteoporosis increase substantially.
