Question:
almost 2 yrs post-op

I have completely stopped, in fact yo-yoing with 10 lbs. Any advice on kickstarting or jumpstarting weight loss? Even exercise and bicycle riding is not losing anymore. I have hit a major plateau. I feel like my pouch is back to normal size being hungry all the time. Please help!!!!    — bubbarino (posted on February 6, 2006)

Try to increase your protein and water intake. Keep up with the exercise and carbs are bad for us. That's what usually used to help me. I went from 267 to 150 back to 180 now trying to get an extra 20 off. Good Luck

Hello Paul. Didn't your surgeon tell you? At 2 yrs post-op, pouches have enlarged and the intestines have changed morphology enough, so you can take in more food and more calories are being absorbed. Only three things can be done - One, to try to change your eating habits enough to lose again or at least keep from re-gaining as most do. Two, Revision (which is nutritionally risky). Or Three, have AGBanding done -- like the Inamed Lap Band applied. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` the Lap Band is the only permanent solution because it can be adjusted thru-out your life. "Failures" of the lap band can be attributed to not enough restriction, too MUCH restriction, inadequate and incorrect education, insufficient support, or emotional problems that cause someone to eat to defeat their band (liquid calories). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You are very dedicated and a real athlete. I think you can probably jumpstart your weight loss by working with a nutritionist and doing some behavior modification work. GOOD LUCK!!
