You need to ask this same question on the Plastic Surgery Message Board, it has been covered many times, you can view older post and get some answers. I have Medicare for my primary insurance and Tricare Prime (military) as my secondary insurance. Medicare will not approve or disapprove any procedures. Most plastic surgeons will not do ps on patients that have just Medicare, because they do not know if they will or will not get approved for payment. Some ask for payment up front, if you have a secondary insurance, check and see if they cover reconstructive surgery, then you will be able to have the surgery. I had my 2nd insurance approve my TT and my breast reduction that they were medically necessary, Medicare paid a portion, then my 2nd insurance picked up the rest of the amount. One heads up, if you are needing alot of muscle repair with your TT, it will most likely not be covered, my 2nd insurance only authorized a panni, I also had a hernia repair, and most insurance companies will not cover a breast lift, but will cover a breast reduction. Wording is so important.
