Question:
Anyone familiar with the new Weight Watchers program?
I've seen the ads on TV for WW and that they have a new program. It sounds alot like South Beach -- does anyone have any details on this? Julie lap RNY 12/11/02 — Jules B. (posted on October 11, 2004)

The Core plan? Basically you get a list of foods that you can eat + 35
points per week. You are allowed to eat fruit and brown rice...I don't
think you can do that with south beach. Anyhow, core didn't really work
for me...I have to be accountable for everything or I will stray. I tried
it for a week and switched to the points system.

I did it for a week and lost 2 1/2 pounds. The food allowed were almost
the same as what I was eating before I joined, except the fruit and veg
which I tened not to eat. Though I did loose the first week, I felt like I
was 'eating' more... and didnt make it to the second.. But with
modivation.. WW is GREAT.

I have done the new Core program for a few weeks. It is not like the south
beach diet. I can eat anything off a list of "core foods" They
are protein, vegetables, fruit, grains. I can eat potatoes and whole wheat
pasta. I lost 9 pounds the first week and three the second week. I like
the plan as it is very flexible. It is like I was eating after surgery.

Actually, from what the other posters are describing, this is very much
like Phase II of the South Beach Diet. Protein, veggies, whole grain, low
glycemic index fruits in moderation. Sounds great (and healthy!).
