I've had my share of bp issues with major dizziness, but I have very low bp. It got even lower after losing all the weight. The other issues I get dizziness with is sugar. I'm not hypoglycemic technically, but I will experience dizziness if I eat something too high in sugar (I "crash" from it about 30 minutes later). I would think it might be a type of dumping syndrome but I had it before WLS too. Unfortunately, there usually isn't much you can do about it except to try and maintain your sugar level. I also usually carry something sugary, like a small piece of candy, for when those episodes occur and I am away from home.

Are you getting enough water? Early on, I was lightheaded quite a bit and my doctor questioned how much water I was drinking and it wasn't enough. I upped my water and it improved. Even now, 8 months post-op, if I go too low with my water intake, I get a bit dizzy. Theresa

I have the same problem. I had normal blood pressure prior to surgery, and now it is even lower though still considered good. My doctor informs me the dizzy spells from standing up too fast are a result of that. He simply encouraged me to think about it before I stand up too fast and go S-L-O-W.

I also had this early on and from time to time now. My doctor also questioned how much water I was drinking and it wasn't enough. I upped my water and it improved. Tom

I've always had low blood pressure and never had problems with dizziness until just recently. I am 6 months out and had my checkup with my dr. this past Monday. He says the most common cause for lightheadedness and dizziness after WLS is from not taking in enough fluids. Good Luck and drink up!

I cant say its low blood pressure. I think its a 'quirk' of the RNY... alot of people have this, I still do almost 4 years post and my b pressure isnt low.

I am 20 months post RNY. I have these same dizzy spells especially when I first get up out of bed in the morning. My bp is normal, my sugar levels are normal, it's not dumping, and I get 100-110 oz of water daily. I haven't asked the doctor about it, but I think I will soon.
