Question:
i am 7 weeks post op -
i am on the soft food diet stage and recently have been throwing up at least once per day sometimes more - is this just me trying to get used to eating again - or should i be more concerned? sometimes i can eat a certain food and then the next time it makes me have to throw up. any advice and thanks for all your input. — TERI P. Hi there. I went through this early on as well. I would throw up quite
frequently as you are and I discussed it with my doctor who had me briefly
revert back to fluids and soft foods for a little while to get my new pouch
to heal a little more before introducing more foods. **Please contact your
doctor first and get his/her feelings on your progress. Let him/her know
what you are eating, how much, how often, etc. Tell him/her what you are
feeling as well. I can tell you that I went through for example eggs doing
well today but then the next I try them I would get sick and throw up. The
further out you get the better it gets. There are some key things to
remember at this point and moving forward.
1) Take your time: eat slowly don't rush getting the food in
2) Drink slowly and don't eat and drink at the same time
3) Make sure you are taking all of your vitamins and getting in your
protein FIRST
4) WE ARE HERE FOR YOU! If you would like to chat more e-mail me.

For me, this happened (and still will) with three conditions. 1) I eat too
fast 2) I eat "too much" or 3) I didn't chew well enough. It has
happened with anything from chicken to water, so just go slow :)

I saw that question a lot on Q&A and on the board - and all the
Post_Ops said some days you can eat a food and enjoy and the next day you
might not. I thought wow how that that be? Sure enough they were all
right - I had my first piece of chicken (dark meat) was fine - next day
*Barf* - also found out I can tolerate dark meat but not white meat (which
I prefer) - but 1 small chicken leg (never finish) won't hurt. Now it's
the sugerfree Edy's Pops - and I really loved those - but I gag on them
this week.

I am almost 5 months out and although I have never vomitted after eatting
something I will like a food while I am eatting it but then afterwards or
the next day I feel sick just thinking about what I ate and can get
nauseous at the thought of eatting it again... The other day I had some
beef and rice... I took a few bites, then about 30 min's later just felt
really nauseous... That was 3 days ago and when I think about it it still
makes me feel nauseous.. lol... I think it's all part of the surgery....
