Question:
What can you take for the stomach flu bug?
I am 18 months post-op and have my first stomach bug since surgery. I am not sure what to take to ease the stomach pain/diarrhea since we can no longer take Pepto Bismol. I put in a call today to my Bariatric Case Manager and I did not hear back from her. I have only been able to eat crackers and peppermint tea for 3 days. Any advice?? I feel like crud! — Cheri M. Flat diet 7-UP or Coke really does help with the queasies. Saltines or
oyster crackers, light broth, peppermint tea is good - so is cinnamon tea.
The key is to let your stomach rest for a period of about 12 hours
(including sleep time) with nothing put in it including water - then add
sips of flat soda, tea or water for a couple of hours, then add the
crackers. Ok, this worked for me and was how I was adviced (RNY 9 +
months out). May not work for you and I think you should call the doctor
again, but it's the best I can offer you. Good luck and hope you get to
feeling better soon!
