Question:
How fast can you drink water?
I am 10 months post-op and can now drink 32 oz. of water within 15 minutes. Is that OK? Can you long term post-ops drink that fast too? Just want to make sure that my pouch is still where it should be. Thanks. — Cheri M. (posted on September 9, 2002)

I can drink pretty quickly. I haven't timed how long it takes me to drink
32 ounces of water but I know I can empty a 16 ounce glass pretty fast.
Water and other liquids go through the pouch very quickly so you are
probably just fine.
I had an Upper GI series done recently and the doctor said my pouch was the
perfect size and draining properly.

I'm almost 7 months post-op and I drink about 42 ounces every morning while
getting ready for work, over a 1.5 - 2.0 hour time period (yes, I take that
long to get ready for work). I could probably drink it in an even shorter
period of time if I weren't so busy getting ready. I've come home after a
jog and downed up to 24 ounces in ten minutes.
