Question:
Is your skin not as dry?
Has anyone noticed that the bottom of their feet are not as dry? I have had dry, flaky feet since I have been MO. I am 3 months post and notice that my feet are getting softer and softer. How is this related? Even when I was MO, I put lotion on my feet twice a day, with no improvement. — [Anonymous] (posted on February 1, 2002)

I have noticed that since my rny, four years ago, my skin has
been extremely dry. I didn't have that problem before surgery.
In the cold weather, I have to slather a good lotion on my feet
and sleep with white sox just to keep them human looking (lol).
I attribute it to the fact that I eat a very low fat diet....I
could be wrong.....but it makes some sense.

Now, this is too weird.. I was thinking the SAME THING just last night.
For YEARS pre-op, my feet would get AWFUL - the heels would get cracked and
bleed (and that HURTS.. a LOT!). My feet were generally 'flaky and scaly'
looking all over. I hated going swimming because I was afraid someone
would notice them and go "..eeeewwww"! My dermatologist would
use a scalpel and slice huge callouses off my heels. I'm talking NASTY
FEET here! Last night I just realized.. no 'flakes or scales'... no
cracked or calloused heels. My feet are also a bit smaller since I've lost
weight (8 weeks post-op). I'm going to go out on a limb here...and declare
my feet ALMOST ATTRACTIVE! I don't know how - or why.. but my feet look
better now than they have since I was a teen-ager. Could it be that the
only liquid I consumed POST-op was 12-14 cups of coffee a day vs. my 7-9
cups of WATER a day..?? Is it because of the healing properties of all the
protein I'm taking? I don't know.. but it's just ANOTHER one of the MANY
reasons I'm SOOOO glad I had this surgery..!!
