Question:
How much should I be able to eat?
I am 7 wks. out and concerned about my intake. I see where others that are out the same amt. of time can eat so much more than I can. I have had to be dilated twice a couple of weeks ago and wondering if it closed up but not to the point of throwing up. I can only eat a 1/2 oz.-1oz. of food at a time, then hungry again 1 hour later. Cannot tolerate more than that as it causes pain, and feels like I am filled up to the throat, like it is too slow in passing through. I called my doc and he wants to 'wait and see' but I have been like this for a week now. So, how much SHOULD I be able to eat at this point? — Cheri M. (posted on December 27, 2001)

Since you get hungry again an hour later, it doesn't sound like a stricture
(closed up stoma). The food is passing through fine. It's just that your
pouch is small, and possibly still swollen. My pouch was about 1 oz at
this point. I could only eat a couple of bites. Over the next several
weeks, you'll begin to be able to eat a little more. BTW, protein like
fish or chicken helped keep me full longer. I could eat more yoghurt, but
then was hungry again quickly.
