Have you been checked for anemia and under active thyroid? Both can cause
hair loss. Or depending on your age it could be a genetic thing.

Believe it or not RNY patients sometimes have a copper defiency which can
cause hair loss. I was very shocked to learn that and many doctors are
unaware of this defiency. So if you are not anemic which is the first one
to be checked have the doctor look into your copper levels.

I learned from the dietitian that if you do not consume enough protein you
will start losing hair. A couple years ago I was losing weight on
medication and had same problem. Looking back I was barely eating
anything, it made sense.

I am 4 1/2 months post RNY; and at about the 3 month mark my hair started
dropping like crazy. I literally have lost half of the bulk of my hair~ I
spoke with my surgeon and dietician and they raised my protein
requirements. Some people need more than others. They also told me to take
a Biotin supplement and use a NIOXIN shampoo.
I found a good iced tea flavored protein powder that has 25 grams of
protein in each 20 oz glass. I drink 2 of these every day on top of my
high protein diet. I am noticing a difference in the drain...not as much
hair loss! YAY!
