I had trouble with Losartan potassium too. At first, it felt like a tickle
in the back of my throat and after awhile it made me cough and cough. I
finally asked my doctor and he said it is a fairly common side effect and
changed me to a different drug for my high blood pressure. It went a way
completely after a few days on the new medicine.

I did not have that due to lorsartan but I experienced it with
lipensal<sp?> If it continues after 2 weeks, while your body is
getting adjusted to the medicine, I would go to dr and have him change it,
thats what I did and since then I have had no coughing problmes

Many different high blood pressure meds cause an irritating dry cough.
Before I quit smoking, I was taking hypertension meds, and I developed a
cough that scared me into quitting smoking cold turkey. When I found out
later that it was the medication that caused the cough, I was really angry,
but I had already quit smoking and wasn't going to start back up again....

I am 2 years postop RNY and was recently put on this drug to better
stabilize my HTN, which initially disappeared with my incredible WL (130#),
but now has returned as I suspect it is more genetically predisposed, but
may also be due to my sodium-rich diet (very baaad, I know). But my PCP/GP
said that a cough is a very real side-effect of this med. I would strongly
recommend you seek advice from your physician and discuss this side-effect.
I am certain given this knowledge your doctor might suggest an alternative
or find another med that is similar (mine did)!
