Question:
What is the difference between red lentils and green/white lentils
I am trying to do the 5 day pouch test and the barley/lentil soup calls for red lentils. Well I bought green/white. Will it make a difference? — przybylc (posted on April 19, 2010)

Shouldn't make a difference. Basically they are the same. The only real
difference is in color, and a slight difference in flavor. Most people
would not be able to tell the difference. Lentils of any color are fairly
bland. All are high in fiber, protein, and vitamin B1. They are also high
in Iron. Some lentils need to be peeled before eating, so follow
directions for cooking on the bag before using in a recipe. Salt can also
make some lentils tough, so don't add any for seasoning until after you
boil them.
