it's probably going to be a struggle forever. i get backed up all the
time. i try to eat some fruit when in season and also eat this
scandanavian bran crispbread. i take flax oil pills and i eat this
protein/fiber flax cereal.
if i'm feeling like nothing is moving i'll take some milk of magnesia. it
usually takes about a day to do anything though. good luck!

U need to speak to your surgeon to see what they recommend. Since you are
only 29 days out it's hard to help it with diet.

Try Benefiber. It has really helped me over the months since my surgery.
Has no taste and I usually add it to my decaf in the morning.

It is not a weird thingy going on. If you are only 29 days post op, you
are probably just beginning to eat soft foods. Up until this point you
have been doing clear liquids as well as full liquids. Now you are just
beginning to put substance into the mix. Drink plenty of water and eat
soft canned fruits with no sugar and get plenty of exercise.

I'm nearly 7 months out and still have problems. I get the benefiber
packets and sometimes add them to crystal light. Also miralax when the
going really gets tough. Kevin

My surgeon recommends peri-colace (stool softener) and usually works if I
take it in the morning and then drink a cup of decaf coffee. If one
doesn't work, I take 2 ... but all surgeons have different plans ... my
doctor does not recommend Miralax .....only peri-colace, but I know alot of
people take Miralax with no problems. I try to incorporate a little fiber
into my diet via Fiber One Yogurt, or Double Fiber Wheat Bread but of
course you can't eat bread yet probablly.

I NEVER used to be constipated....but WOW... since surgery, I am really
troubled by this development. I've spoken to both the PA and the
Dietician, and was told to take Colace or a generic stool softener every
day, and that I needed to definitely increase my fiber intake to at least
25 grams per day, and that it was okay to drink "Smooth Move"
organic tea with senna, and that finally, if I was really having a hard
time, I could take Phillips Milk of Mag (but not to make a habit out of
it). I find that with increased fiber intake (I found a great source of
easy-to-eat fiber called Nutricology at a Vitamin Cottage near me - it's
powdered and stirs into yogurt and hot cereal quite nicely, but if you
don't eat it right away, it makes the stuff you've stirred it into a little
"rubbery" in texture) and the stool softeners, I don't need to
take the MOM more than two or three times a month. I try to do the tea and
the other stuff before taking an actual commercial laxative.

MIRALAX WORKS GREAT AND HAS NO NASTY TASTE LIKE M.O.M. I HATE THAT STUFF.

As for me Miralax did not work. early on i tired metamucill but it was very
hard to get it all done. But the best thing i've found is called clear and
natural by metamucill you just add it to water, soup or whatever it has no
taste and it works the best for me anyway. Plus its better than taking milk
of mag cause your boday can become depend on things like that. Its in a
blue bottle I buy it at walmart.
