I wouldn't push it, if I were you. One week is too soon to be eating
anything too substantial. I'm two weeks out, and have just started pureed
foods. My suggestion would be to call your surgeon or nutritionist and
tell them what's going on. You can eat creamed soups, etc., but getting in
your protein is vital. Have you tried the clear protein shots? I can't
stand the taste of them, but a friend of mine likes them a lot and prefers
them to the shakes and powders.

I had alot of trouble with protein too. I was finally able to tolerate low
sugar Boost if it was just a small amount (we put it in a shot glass for
kicks) and it was ice cold and I
just sipped it slowly. In my opinion it is way too soon for food. Your
pouch needs time to heal first. Stick with liquid. I also lived off sugar
free popsicles. Good luck.

Yep, way too soon for anything with texture. It's so hard the first couple
of weeks but keep telling yourself the more liquid protein you can get in,
the faster that new pouch will heal so you can introduce real foods. Hang
in there and keep sipping. You can have chicken or beef broth right now. I
made up some pre-op and froze it in an ice cube tray. That made individual
servings for me; just nuked it in the microwave in a coffee cup. You might
try a popsicle "chaser" to get the protein taste out of your
mouth too. Or make your protein shake and pour it up into little Dixie
cups, add a popsicle stick when it begins to freeze and you have a frozen
protein popsicle. Hang in there, this first stage will be over before you
know it.

to soon for food.... Try the protien bulletts. you can take them like
medicine becuase that really what it is at this point... 3oz is 42g of
protein so if you take half every 2 hours you will still get enough protein
in for the day with out having to drink 32+ oz of something that you don't
like.

I couldn't eat food for 3 weeks after my surgery. Doctor said no food..
Protein shakes are easier than food anyway to keep down so I would think if
you ate anything it would be way worse for you. I would wait at least
another week. Good luck

Egg is possible, ask your surgeon's office. Every surgeon has a different
diet plan. I went home from the hospital eating things like pudding,
yogurt, etc. I also couldn't handle the protein shakes after surgery. I
wound up having to drink No Sugar Added Carnation Instant Breakfast. You
can get chocolate flavor at your local supermarket, or Amazon.com carries
the French Vanilla.

It is too soon to tell and too soon to try those types of food. I
personally never experienced pain or discomfort, but you did just have
major surgery and are still swollen & sore. Take very small sips and do
the best you can. If it is still painful when it is time to move on to the
next food phase, I would consult with your DR and/or NUT.

I am 7 days post-op. I couldn't tolerate the ready-made protein drinks or
power, either. I am so thankful I found out about Protein Bullets. They are
available at GNC, Vitamin Shoppe. They are only 3 oz, contain 45 grams of
Protein, cost $3.99, and for some reason (although sugar free) taste much
more sweeter. My particular protein bullet is called ProSLAM!45. I haven't
checked out their website, but it's listed as www.proteinslams.com
