The only regret I have after bariatric surgery, is that I didn't do this
many years ago.

I agree, my only regret is not having had it sooner. When I think of 4
insulin shots a day for all those years.. if only I knew then what I know
now. It is so empowering to be free of those pesky shots!

I think I would have went with the lapband instead of RNY if I could do it
over. Tired of feeling sick alot and iron infusions and now potassium. It's
really just a trade off. One set of health problems for another. Almost 5
years post op and still have kept most of the 100 pounds I lost off.
Although it is a struggle.

Are you kidding. The best thing I EVER DID. I have no regrets. Only joy
everday. I had RNY Oct 2007. Have lost 140lbs I am loving me. Shopping is
so much fun. You go in the store now and you do not have to buy something
just because it fits. I did lose my hair about 8 months out but it can back
and is beautiful..... I have no regrets. Life is good. Vickie

3 months out on Friday from lapband surgery and it's already worth it in
the way I feel with 30 lbs. off my body. I'm not breathing like I just ran
a marathon when I get to a meeting at work, I'm already wearing a size
smaller, my shoes are more comfortable, and for the first time in my life I
have real HOPE that this time I will lose weight. I'm trying not to beat
myself up that I didn't do this sooner but just like Nike says...Just Do
It!

I am over 5 years Post RNY and have no regrets whatsoever. The quality of
my life after losing 150 lbs and keeping it off all these years is worth
the trade offs of having to get labs often to check my vitamin levels and
popping vits every day! I've had some vitamin issues and have had to take
extra vitamins to correct deficiencies and go for labs often to keep it all
right...and it gets tiresome, but it's such a small price to pay for no
longer having high cholesterol, diabetes, acid reflux disease, hiatal
hernia, pain from arthritis in my knees, not being able to fit in some
booths at restaurants or keep up with my family and hold them back from
active things or do fun things with them,, or have to walk with a cane
because of the pain or not being able to breathe...etc!...I am finally
alive and wear the person I was inside on the outside too! I had to give
up my beloved potatoes, pasta and rice, baked goods and pastries,
cakes, cookies and candy...I eat those things now in moderation and eat
healthy wholesome food that shows in my hair, skin, nails, size, youth,
energy, etc!
Eating healthy has amazing benefits that make it easy to give up my carb
junkie habits! I still enjoy complex carbs daily...It's enough to eat only
what I need and not over do it! Lifestyle changes are so important and so
worth all the effort that regret is not something I felt at all since the
day after surgery and I was hooked to a morphine pump that made all the
regret I might have felt.... melt! After that...No regrets! Not one!

I had my lap RNY on March 2nd. I went back to work 11 days later.... I
have never had a single regret, even though I had a stricture I had to have
dilated, and may be working on a second one. This is the happiest, most
excited I've been in 35 years, since I had my second child. I'm down over
two sizes, nearly three, and when I sent "before and now"
pictures to a friend of mine, he wrote back... "Wow!! It's the case of
the 'incredibly disappearing butt!!" Nope, not a single moment's
regret. Of course, I also did REALLY well after surgery. No pain that
wasn't pre-existing (from my arthritis) - in fact, the morphine pump took
care of that for a couple of days, too! This will be the best thing you've
ever done, I guarantee.

I had my GB surgery 10 years ago and went from 358 lbs. to 140 lbs.-where I
am today. I used to wear a size 28, now I wear a size 4! I used to lag
behind my husband if we went on walks, now I walk faster than he does!
There was pain from it and at times I had second thoughts, but in the end,
I was glad I did it. My only regret is what someone said, I wish I
would've done it sooner!

yes. I'm 5 wks post op and am frustrated at foods not tasting right and not
sitting well. Sometimes I just sit and cry. I wish I had better info
before going into surgury I thought I had researched but I guess not enough
or I wasn't really listening. I have no energy and am hungry all the time.

I regret having the surgery everyday! I long to feel normal again. I
haven't felt well since and I'm 6 wks out. What I wouldn't do for a fun
happy hour. I was happier than I thought I was and I miss the old me.

5 days post op and I have said to friends and family that I was the worst
thing I have ever done - right now I wish I could take it back - but every
one I know who has had it says it gets better---I hope so

You really aren't even giving yourself a chance. I feel it is the best
thing I have done in my life, except hubby and kids of course. You should
write back on this forum in about 6 weeks and then we'll see how you are
feeling. I have lost 100 lbs. so far and I need to lose about 60 more. My
problem is I have severe arthritis and degenerative disc disease in my
spine and knees so I really can't exercise. My loss has been over 4 years
but I still feel it's the greatest thing! I feel so much better, no more
asthma and my blood pressure has dropped to where it is now within normal
range. So DO give yourself more time. You really haven't even recuperated
from the surgery yet. I wish you much success and freedom to do things you
couldn't do before.

I had mixed feelings for several weeks, but now after almost 7 months that
has all changed. It takes your body and your emotions a long time to
settle. I am very confident that I will still have some bad days
emotionally, but it has been so worth it.

No regrets, whatsoever! I had my lap-RNY on 3/5/09 and am down a total of
78 lbs. (12 pre surgery, and 66 post surgery) I haven't felt this good in
years! I am also very much enjoying clothes shopping again. (lol)
