Question:
Has anyone heard ANTHEM BSBC only paying 10,000.00 toward WLS .

Does this mean I would have to pay this rest.    — cocoamor2004 (posted on February 11, 2009)

Better call their info number. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia only pays $2000 total for everything...all tests, all meds, all MRI s, Cat Scans, X-Rays etc. Yes, it would mean you are liable for the rest. I believe financing might be available for the rest, but I wouldn't know where to tell you to look. Sorry, Dusty @};-

I have Athem Blue Cross and they paid everything for me. I guess it depends on your plan.

You may want to check your company and see if they have different requirements for the surgery than BCBS. My company's requirements for insurance paying for the surgery are alot less strict than BCBS. Therefore it is easier to get approved. But BCBSIL does not volunteer that info so you may want to check with your HR at work..... Donna

WellPoint/Anthem Blue Cross now has 'Centers of Excellence' for bariatric surgery. The maximum co pay is a flat $2000. Call the number on the back of your card and ask to be registered with the bariatric program specialists. THey will transfer you to a voice mail and the case manager will call you back and send the paperwork to enroll. This is new to 2009. Good luck to you.

I have Anthem BC/BS. My hospital bill was $39,000. This did not count the surgeon's fee. BCBS only paid $12,000. Since I used a Center of Excellence that was in network, I only had to pay my $100 deductible and was not responsible for the rest.

Hey there, even if that is so, be grateful. I had BCBS of Florida and they paid ZERO! I was a self pay and when all was said and done- it cost about $20,000. Worth every penny though. Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC
