Probably each and every one of us lost and gained lost and gained. Over a
lifetime I probably lost more total than my top weight, but always gained
it back:( Less than a few percent of MOs are able to keep the weight off 5
years unless they choose surgery. That means 98% are like you, and gain it
back. Soon you can be a BIG LOOSER TOO:)

Hi Tina, it's normal to be apprehensive about this process; it's a huge
decison that has a major impact on our life and lifestyle. Are you afraid
because you think you won't be able to do it, or the possible
complications, or gaining back the weight, etc? We've all been there! I
don't think anyone but you can tell you whether or not you should have the
surgery - only you know yourself well enough to decide. There's something I
did early in the process to help me decide, and I've suggested it to others
in my support group who may be unsure: wtrite down a pro and con list for
the surgery, and see what comes out. Don't give it a lot of thought - just
write whatever comes to mind. I'll bet you'll be surprised that your
"pro" list will be much longer than the "con" list.
Also, attend any support groups that are offered to you. I've learned a lot
from these meetings, and also had the chance to interact with people who
are just like me and understand what I feel like. This may also help you
decide. Good luck, and pleasr send me an e-mail at [email protected] to
let me know what you ultimately decide, or even if you just need to talk!
That's what we're all here for!

You might want to check on what your insurance pre approval is. Even if
you're self pay you have to go through a series of tests for RNY. Not sure
about lapband, but for RNY you have to have an EKG, cardio test, sleep
apnea, psych eval, nutrion eval etc etc...It can take up to 6 months or
more depending on your insurance, or up to 3 months scheduling things back
to back if your self pay.
