Hi Kathy, I am 3 1/2 years post-op and I still cannot throw up even though
it feel like I could. And it hurts too. I dont know what causes this, I've
never been able to get an answer. Best of Luck!! Mickey............

I am confused! Why would you want to throw up?

Yes Why would you want to throw up?? Throwing up may still happen if you
eat or drink too fast, which brings on the Foamies!! But actually Vomiting
could damage the Pouch or/and re-plumbing of your inners.

Why would it cause damage? I mean they know ahead of time that everyone
will get sick AT LEAST once whether anything actually comes out or not. So,
why would they do the surgery if they thought you would be damaged?

Hi Kathy. I think what you are going through is perfectly normal. When I
eat something (I am 3 1/2 years post op), and I am too full or sick from
what I have eaten, I want to throw up and cannot. If I eat something and
it is stuck or too big on the way to the pouch, I can bring that back up
(and glad for it). Once it is in the pouch, it is pretty much in there to
stay. The benefit is I don't throw up when I am sick as well. I really
don't throw up at all, for being ill or food issues. I think it is normal.
Just choose carefully what you put in your pouch. We need to anyway, but
be careful. I am not sure of the why, but I am sure that it happens with
many of us losers. Take care. Patricia P.

To those that wonder why would you want to throw up...I hade
gastroenteritis and TRUST ME, if I coould have thrown up I would have felt
soooo much better. Instead, I wentthru the motions of throwing up , but
with no result...not fun.

Hi Kathy,
I remember I did not throw up in the begining, but around my 7th months I
started to heave, Turned out I was eating and drinking to fast. I am now 1
yr and 8 months, but still have a problem eating. I has an Ulcer and I
guess I am afraid it will hurt if I eat. The only thing that I can eat is
cheese and all the junk food like Ice cream (sometimes) and Choc candy. I
have gained 20 lbs from this, but I will have to try and get back to normal
once again. Good Luck and hjope all goes well for you.

THe reason it is hard is the stomach has to contract to force the food up
you have a small stomach so it takes a lot of force and that force is not
good for your pouch and it is bad for the throat to have stomach acid
backed up in it, sounds like you are putting too much in the pouch or
drinking with your meals ? If not chew your food alot more so it is mushy.

I'm with Amy -- why would you want to throw up -- its not a requirement
after having surgery.
