Question:
I had hernia surgery on 7/26/06
I had hernia surgery to remove 2 hernia's. My surgeon also pulled together on scar (open incision) to make it tighter. he moved my belly button also. I didnt have any problems other than being real sore. i wore my binder for 1 1/2 months just to be safe. did what he said to do and not to do. I am now having pain around my belly button. the scar is looking very think like a keloid scar. but it hurts. sometimes while I am just sitting. it just doesnt feel right. I didnt have this pain in my open incision scar at all from the GBP surgery. I have an appt on 10/11 and feel like I am being a baby if I call and try and get an earlier appt. I just cant understand why is there pain now after 2 months. has anyone had any trouble like this? any advice appreciated thanks — taterbug898 (posted on September 25, 2006)

i had lap rny 08-31; was going along fine, but a week or so ago had pain
near one incision like you describe. i also tried to wait for my next
scheduled appt, but finally took myself to e dept over weekend. once they
got pain controlled, i was able to get fluids in and rest. DONT wait if you
are having discomfort above a level you think managable. CALL, or go in.

Keloid scars can cause pain themselves without anything else being wrong.
Try and make an earlier appoinntment if you want, it certainly won't hurt
anything.... and the worst thing that can happen is they may not have any
sooner appointments.
Good luck.
