Hi Karen,
I have had IBS for over 20 years also. I had RNY October 31, 2005. I have
lost 95 lbs. But I have noticed that the IBS for me has gotten better. Now
when I eat I don't have to immediately hit the john. I guess it is
different for some people tho. Hope this helps you.

Hi Karen...prior to surgery I had horrible IBS too I would have to run for
the bathroom particularly after I ate a large meal. Now, however, I have
had only 2 or 3 attacks in the past 13 months!!! YAY!!! It is so much
better. I do not know if it is that way for everybody but it has been
miraculous seeing that I used to get IBS attacks pretty much 2-3 time a
week (or more!). I hope your results are similar...best wishes to you!

Hi Karen, I also have IBS and am in the beginning stages of having WLS
(Starting my paperwork). I posted the same question a couple of months
back, and the response I got was that the IBS seems to get better after
WLS. I hope that is how it goes for us. I was afraid that the IBS would
get worse after WLS. Good luck in your journey. If you want, you may
e-mail me. Annetta

Me too - mine completely resolved after surgery. I don't know why but it
seems to be a common thread. I wouldn't bank on it, but it seems to help
some. :)

I've had IBS in conjunction with my fibromyalgia for years. Surgery has
nearly stopped it for me. In fact, I went 6 years without an attack. I've
had a few attacks since then, but nothing as severe as before. Regards~
