Question:
Hernia question?

I thought I found a hernia a while ago, finally asked my PCP and she confirmed, then I went back to my surgeon and he agreed but nobody did an xray or anything....is that normal? I am scheduled for hernia repair surgery end of July but what if I don't really have one? I know this is probably crazy because I was sure before but now I'm wondering if they do any test to make sure before they open you up again. Thanks, Karen    — kkiser (posted on June 6, 2006)

Its done by feeling it, soft tissue doesnt show up on X rays. Dont be concerned its minor surgery, if you had any problems in the past like itching, nausea etc be sure to talk to your surgeon and anthestia BEFORE surgery so they can pull the records and prevent a reoccurence.

This is a very simple surgery. As a general rule, it is a laproscopy procedure. You are sore, but that's about it. I had it done and did great.
