Question:
pain in 3 inches from my belly botton on the left side??

Hi all, i had open RNY April 11/06 and have been doing great...Allery season hit hard this week and I have been coughing and coughing and coughing...well you get the idea...is it possible that I have ripped stiches on the inside? could it be the start of a hernia? or just a pulled muscle? It hurts as much as right after surgery and having to cough holding on to a pillow...and advise would be greatly appreciated!!    — Dawn1 (posted on May 9, 2006)

Sometimes I have a big issue, why people try and play doctor. Those of us that answer questions can not answer medical ones. You need to see your surgeon asap. We can not give you this type of advise. Good luck

As a nurse I advise you to go see your surgeon ASAP for this issue. About the Allergy problem you might want to see your PCP for tx of the cough and allergies, but make sure your surgeon is aware of the medications if added. I had a major kidney infection 4 weeks post-op and had to go on Antibiotics, but I did notify my surgeon who is in another city 5 hours away. Allegra helps me real well with the allergy problem and I am able to take pills whole have been since 3 days post-op. The person who replied before me does not need to have an attitude all you had to do was ignore the question if it bothered you.

Dawnya, I had surgery the same day as you, and had a similar issue about a week ago. My surgeon told me it was totally normal, but you should call yours just to make sure. Good luck!
