Question:
I need to find other WLS past patients to talk to if I can?
I live in the Muncie, IN, area and I am looking for some help to get me through till surgery. Right now I have one more appt with my dietician and after that will be setting my surgery date. I would love to talk to some other RNY patients and their success. Just a little help to keep my happiness level up and know I have a good thing coming into my life. Thanks for reading this and Blessings and Peace to all who are waiting for their surgery. — jstplainwyrd1956 (posted on February 21, 2006)

changed drastically. Just remember who you are throughout this time not
who you look like. You are welcome to email me with any and every question

Hi Gina, I know you are scared straight I was too, I think everyone is. I
do not regret my decision to have open RNY one bit I am only about 5 months
out though. I am very happy with my results, yea looking soo much better is
great but feeling better is worth it all and more . I now can play outside
with my son and husband , I go 4-wheeling ,snowmobiling you name it I want
to experience it .I also can climb a set of stairs quickly without being
out of breath at all . I even race my dog up stairs he always wins but
atleast I am not out of breath. I know the waiting is nerve wracking but it
is so worth it. I had my surgery Sept. 29th 2005 and have lost 71 lbs as
far as I know but I go to the Dr's today for my 5 month check up so I will
find out for sure. I was on a huge plateau for a while so I stopped
weighing myself at home too discouraging. You can E-mail me any time . I
will help when I can and just listen when I can't.My E-mail is
[email protected] Good Luck in your journey it is an amazing one :o)

Hi Gina, I had my surgery 14 months ago. I have lost 244 pounds thus far.
You can talk to lots of people in the chat room on this sight. You can
ask questions, voice concerns, or just watch to see what others have gone
through. It can be very educational as well as a safe place to meet others
who are in the same situation that you are. Good luck!! Tom

Hi Gina, I too, had open RNY on 11/1/05, I am down 62 pounds and feel
great. I no longer take any of the meds I was on for High Blood pressure
and back pain. I am just amazed at the difference in how I feel, not to
mention how I look. It is so nice to be told by co-workers and family and
friends how great I look, and to be able to shop in the "regular"
size sections at the store, I am still trying to used to that!!
You are making the best decision of your life, your whole life is about to
change .. for the better!! I highly recommend going to a support group
before surgery if you can to meet others who are like yourself , getting
ready for surgery and also meet others who have had the surgery and can
help you with those anxiety feelings that you may have..
Please email me any time if you want to chat a bit.. [email protected]
Best wishes to you in your journey!!!!

Gina, I live in Indiana too. South Bend area. I had my laproscopic RNY
on July 20, 2005. I've lost a total of 92 lbs so far. It's the most
fantastic thing I've ever done for myself. It's important that you put
yourself first through this process. I had to tell my husband you are on
your own for a while. I can only concentrate and think about me right now.
I know it sounds selfish, but it's not. My husband was pretty
understanding. I cannot tell you how much better I feel and how much
happier. I actually look at myself in the mirror once in a while rather
than avoiding it like the plague. You can email me at [email protected] if
you want to talk more. I'll give you all the support I can!!! Think
positive!! It's going to make a fantastic difference in your life.

Does your surgeon have a support group? I live in Maine and we have a
great support group that meets twice a month. I have found it great these
are all people who have not had surgery yet and are in various stages of
post op. It is great to bounce ideas off each other and someone maybe
having a problem or have a comment that you did not think about or have
experienced. If they don't I would say see about starting one.
