after WLS? certainly. You need to 'WAIT" at least 12 - 18 months
after having your surgery (use BC even ifyou think you can't get preg) .
After that you can go on to have healthy pregnancies.

I had a yearly and informed my ob/gyn that I had the surgery and asked the
same thing. She advised that in all likely hood I would be able to
conceive. She would term it a high risk pregnancy for insurance purposes
so that she could monitor me more. I let her know that I was not planning
on getting pregnant any time soon so put me on the pill.

Yes, you certainly can. I had a child pre-op at over 300 lbs and am now
pregnant with twins over two years post-op. My ob-gyn doesn't seem to be
worried that I am a bypass patient and so far both babies are thriving and
very active at only 14 weeks along. I also have a friend who delivered
healthy twins after surgery.

Yes you can have children but there is a waiting period after the surgery
that you need to check out with your doctor.

yes you can. i had a baby 5 months post op. not by choice. please make
sure that you are on a high dose of birth control. i was not and it did
not work. but she saved my life as i had an e-coli infection in my body
cavity from my bypass. it caused tremendous pain and went to the er. ob
considered me high risk as they removed my baby to clean the infection out
and placed her back in. she is now almost 11 months old and she is
healthy. good luck. tammi

Like everyone said....surgeons recommend you wait 12 months or until your
weight loss stablizes. I got pg 5 months out from surgey and lost weight
the entire pregnancy and more afterwards. Everything turned out fine
though....my OB did not consider me "high risk" but did keep a
closer eye with more frequent ultrasounds to make sure my son was growing
on schedule. I had issues with preterm labor, but it was totally unrelated
to WLS. I had a healthy baby boy in June/2003.
