Shelly:
I have not personally heard of any Dr charging for an appeal!! My Pcp has
wrote numerous letters to appeal my RNY when I was denied twice, and has
written several appeal letters for a panni. Maybe the surgeon feels his
time is worth more!!! LOL I definitely question it!! Good luck, DeeAnn

It is becoming more and more common for doctors to charge for doing
paperwork - and appeal letters do take time to compose. Can't you write
your own appeal letter? I appealed my husband's denial of WLS, and then I
appealed the denial of my abdominoplasty and I got both approved! After
all, who does it affect more if you get your denial reversed - you or the
doctor?

Shelly; Just wanted to let you know that Dr Snyder did my surgery in April
of 2003. It was experience that you will not find a more caring group of
people. They went out of thier way to ensure that that all my needs were
met. As for appeal letters I wrote my own with his assistance as well as my
PCP. I suggest that if you don't wanr to spend the money that this be the
approach you take. There are several sites that give you numerous sample
appeal letters.
Again Dr Snyder is a wonderful surgoen and you will not be disappointed
with him or his staff. His number one concern is for his patients.
if I can help you with anything pleaqse don't hesitate to contact me. My
profile is available for your review if you would like to see it.
Good look in the pursuit of this life changing procedure. If it would have
cost me 1,000 for the appeal letter and I was approved it would have been
ok with me. It would have been money well spent.
Regards
Gary
