Question:
What can I take for chronic lower back pain. Prescription or OTC.
I am 10 months out and am having persistant lower back pain. When I go to the Dr next month I want to be able to give him some suggestions from people who had Gastric Bypass. — Connie M. (posted on December 21, 2002)

I am also ten months out with chronic back pain. Today I started wearing
the binder from my surgery and it has helped a LOT; it's worth a try. I
think the only cure will be to have my hanging belly removed. Nina in

my friend first you need to find out why you are having the pain then you
can figure out how you can treat your problem it could be several things
which there are several meds to take for diffrent things i also suffer from
cronic lower back pain but i have some disc and tissue problems i am also
10 months out but i don"t think that has anything to do with my
problem good luck please keep me posted from kim boyce.

My chronic back pain is caused by muscles spasms - caused by the hanging
panni...but as a previous poster recommended, you need to discover what is
causing yours. If it is caused by spasms I highly recommend
Cyclobenzaprine. The pill is small enough I can take it uncut (had an RNY
5 months ago) and it disolves rapidly. My surgeon approved its use as
well. Good luck!

I've had chronic back pain since 3 weeks after my surgery on 4/5/02. They
finally discovered that I was having spasms in my piriformis and rectus
abdominus muscles (butt and pelvic region). I'm now taking muscle
relaxants, ultram for pain, and because my nighttime pain is terrible, I
have just started wearing the duragesic patch for pain as well. I'm also
doing physical therapy and strenghtening exercises. You absolutely need a
diagnosis for your pain. I might be able to help you find a good pain
doctor in your area. Please email me privately if you want some help.
Good luck
