Depending on the type of surgery you have, you may develop vitamin
deficiencies
down the road. Make sure you take vitamins as prescribed by your doctor.
I
check blood levels of certain vitamins after a year in my patients.

Hi Renee, I am 16 mo post-op from the open RNY with a 1cc micro pouch. I
am doing just fine I have lost 159# so far. I know of a few other people
1-6yrs post-op, another 2yrs. post-op and another 3yrs post-op. and they
are doing real good too. No one has had any problems that I know of. All
have lost alot and all feel really good. Good Luck- keep me posted on your
progress or if you have questions I'll be happy to answer what I can-or
direct you to where you can get the answers. God Bless!! Jan Terry

I had a r-n-y distal surgery done lapro 2 and a 1/2 years ago. I have
suddenly began to regain the weight. I have gained 30 lbs. in one month. It
is very scarry. I am in the process of reinstating my health insurance so
hopefully I will be able to get some help soon.

Unfortunately I have seen and posted a link before that after 7 years 25%
are morbidly obese AGAIN:(
My only HOPE is by that theres a drug treatment that is both safe and
effective.
I dont feel people fail, it just shows how badly our bodies want us to
weigh what we do....
I read somewhere that we get more efficent getting calories from food, over
time once we have surgery.

I know a woman who had the surgery about 18 yrs ago when it was real
dangerous. She has stayed within 25lbs of her Ideal weight and has had no
surgery related problems. Early on , after the surgery she had big time
problems but the were all taken care of.

Dear Renee,
I had my surgery on January 21, 1983. This January that will be nineteen
years ago. I have done very well and kept my weight off. I have been
sensible and I do not eat junk food! No chocolate, no chips or salty foods
just any kind of normal food I want.
I do have a problem digesting meat and am not able to eat meat other than
fish or chicken...this is good I guess!
I do still have problems with dumping when I eat something my stomach
doesn't like.
By now I have learned that my menstral cycle causes my stomach to be very
sensitive and one week prior to my cycle I can't eat the foods I would
normally eat.
I still think of myself as fat even though I wear a size eight!
I worry about my vitamin intake and I make sure I am careful to take them
faithfully every day.
I have some loose skin such as the upper arm area and the thighs but
overall I am happy with the way I look.
I feel great and have a lot of energy!
My sister is going to have the surgery this month on October 29th and I
hope to be an encouragement and inspiration for her!
Let me know if I can answer anything else for you!

I am 6 years out now. I have been having problems with energy, I am going
to the doctor this week to have what might be an incisinal hernia looked
at. I am also very concerned with long term problems. I found out last year
that I was border line anemic, but will also have that tested when I go to
the doctor this week. I have had some hair lose, that is ongoing. I try to
faithfully take vitamins to help with that. I am concerned because I lost
120 pounds the 1st year and weighed that same amount. I am up to 160, and
feel like it is climbing again. I don't eat alot, but I guess it is what i
am eating. Try not to worry and just enjoy your new way of life, your
children will love the new energy you have.

I think it just depends on what you do after surgery wether or not you gain
your weight back, just keep on exercising and taking care of yourself, you
will do great!
