Hi,
I had a Mirena when I had my surgery in 2009, it was removed last August (5
years). I saw no difference in weight loss.

I've had my IUD (mirena) for 22 months & I'm 17 months out from my VSG.
aside from my monthly water weight retention I haven't experienced any
weight gain. I'm going to guess that your habits are attributing to your
regain. I'd advise you re-evaluate & possibly adjust your eating and
fitness plan. if you are sincerely sticking to your surgeons plan & are
still experiencing the weight gain, then I'd suggest following up with your
gyno.
good luck

There is only progesterone in Mirena. Since it is the estrogen in the pills
that case water retention and increase in appetite. I would have to say
that your weight gain is from food and not the IUD. I am not sure which
surgery you have but I would go back to basics and maybe write down
everything you are eating. Sometimes people get comfortable after being out
a while. Best of luck.

To answer you question... There are 2 types of Mirena regarding the
ingrediant and dosages. But My GYN asured me that there is no corrilation
to food cravings to the IUD but... It is your normal body function. YOu
know the week befor the cyele starts... You are ravinously hungry. Just
fight through that time and things will get back to normal really soon You
will also notice a change in your stool at this time as well (looser) Just
lower salt intake, drink more liquids and any swelling will go faster.Keep
to your eating program and after the cycle is done you will have lost 4-11
lbs and be right on track.. Bummer for me is it seems that every time I
have the gastric checkup it is at the bloating time and the scale reads
heigher. But if you tell the doctors/ Nurse/pratictioners this they
understand.
