Question:
I have my very first appointment coming up next week.
What all usually occurs at the first meeting? — pinkypromise93 (posted on March 9, 2011)

Is the meeting with the staff presenting the procedure or with the surgeon?
I went to an informational meeting first and then had an appointment with
the doctor and staff. I had to go on a 6 month diet before my insurance
would OK. After the OK's were in I met with the surgeon. I went through
Cleveland Bariatric Center (St. Vincent's Hospital) and couldn't have been
happier. That was 4 years ago.

Good luck to you. I was nervous but it went smooth and he answered most of
my questions before I even asked. Also you will fully realize when you
leave that you are starting a whole new chapter and it is exciting. I can't
believe it has been 17 months for me but every bit of it was worth it. I
say get excited and your new life.

Hi I am CarolHeine:I understand I was very nerves also but after I made up
my mind to go through the surgery, I was very thankful that i did i have
had a great support team through the U.W.H. bariactric clinic go to all the
meeting that they have for you because they are very informational on what
to expect and what they expect of you, You must do exacly what the surgeon
tells you to do in order for the surgery to be successful. Best wishes and
God bless. just-ducky

Thank you all for the answers...answered alot of what I was wondering. I
did the informational seminar by webinar and took the quizzes. The hospital
called me the next day and set up an appointment and I am assuming it is
with the surgeon. The nurse had me go online and fill out what seemed like
a whole life history. I couldn't remember every single date for every diet,
lol. I'm thinking I have been doing that my whole life seems like. But I
guess since I had to give all that information and have already did the
webinar I may be possibly seeing the surgeon. Congrats to you all who have
had the surgery already. That is great, I look forward to a new me.

I did my surgery process in 3 months so it was a whirlwid and I remember
very little now 3 years out! My advice is to take deep breaths and be
patient! They most likely will ask for many test and have you jump through
several hurdels but this is for your benifit in the long run!!! Remain
commited and take it one step at a time! Also attend a group in your area
weekly if possible, I went for 6 months before and it was so helpful!! Good
luck :-)

Hi, I am scheduled for surgery april18. I started this process a year ago.
I wanted the run.but because of physical issues I must have the sleeve. My
insurance kept denying it. My Dr. Kept appealing and 2weeks ago approved
it. So now surgery. I guess my point is just hang in there it will happen.
