Hi Lorey - Yes, I had RNY 2.5 years ago. I've lost over 100lbs and have maintained my weight since I was 10 months post-op. I live an active life, I'm healthy and happy and I've made so many amazing friends in the weight loss surgery community. Congratulations on your surgery! Enjoy your journey! Pam

I had mine 1 year and and 10 months this coming Saturday. I am 180 lbs less than my heaviest weight and have my life back. Not perfect, but by comparison it seems like it. Good luck and GBU on your journey, two words...shortcuts hurt...five more...you can only cheat yourself. You have three more "freebie"month and it gets harder and slower and you will have lost the bulk of what you will lose. You will need exercise and dedication to continue to your goal weight, but it WILL be worth it. After a year, do a search on Kaye Baily and the "5-day pouch test if you hit a long lasting plateau. Write if you have questions or need a friend. :-)

I had my RNY on 08-03-09, I have lost 113+ lbs. There are days that I say to myself why did I do this, but by the by I am very happy I did it. I am under my goal weight now, I can't stop losing now. It is not going to be a piece of cake I am warning you, but I would give you this one piece of advice, be compliant in whatever your Dr. tells you to do.

I had RNY 6.16.09 and I'm very happy with the results. I've lost 172lbs (and counting)and had no complications. Follow the program given by your doctor and you'll do fine.

I had RNY on Jan 13, 2010 and so far have shed 75 pounds. I am 66, could not walk without a cane, and used an electric scooter to get around. Now I no longer use these things and feel like I am in my mid 30's. Do it again? yes, every week if it were necessary. I praise God for all the changes he has made in my life. My only regret is not doing this sooner. The only problem I have now is going to the thrift store every week to get smaller pants. For $1.00 I'll make the trip. Maybe buy a suit for the first time in twenty years later in the summer.

Hi Lorey, I will be celebrating 10 years post-op on May 22. My post-op journey has had many twists and turns along the way but I have made it through and learned many things about myself along the way. While I have had SOME regain I am still, 10 years out, right at 100lbs less than my highest weight. Also, my pouch is still intact and working. I will be getting my upper teeth pulled and a denture May 13 and I want use the several days where I am not going to feel like eating to go back to the full liquid phase from when my pouch was brand new. I can tell you with no hesitation whatsoever that if I had to do it all again or go back to how I felt before weightloss surgery I would ask them to point me towards the operating table! This has been the greatest gift and I hope you will feel the same. As far as advice, I second what Shelly said about following your surgeon's orders. Also, try to find and join a face to face support group if you haven't done so already. Finally, make use of this board and the many features it offers to all of us.

Hi Lorey. I had my RNY Jan 27/10 and I have never regretted it. So far I have lost 48 lbs and I am 66 years old. Just beginning my new life without any diabetic drugs. Life is so great and I hope yours is beginning also. Bonnie
