Question:
Burning, sharp pain on my right side, 3 weeks out.
It's been 3 weeks since my laprascopic RNY surgery, and I still have intense pain on my right side. About one week after surgery, I felt a "pull" while getting out of bed, and the pain started then. It is not at the incision site, but seems to be deeper. The pain seems to get a little better, and then WHAM!!! I have a down day like today. I feel like I have to hold my side and apply pressure to help with the pain. Could I have herniated something? I'm seeing my surgeon next week, but I wanted to know if anyone else out there had this experience. I was hoping to get back to work soon, but I can't like this. Any Ideas???? — e56700 (posted on April 6, 2010)

This sounds like something you should call your doctor/clinic about at the
very least. I too had very sharp stabbing pains at about 3 weeks out but
they were on my left side at the ribs.. after 12 hours in the e.r. they
determined I had a partially collapsed lung. If I were you I would not take
a chance. You've come this far, you owe it to yourself to at least inquire
about it with professionals.

You should call your DR just in case. I had the same thing it was some scar
tissue forming my Dr told me to have my husband massage it. It hurt really
really bad but after about a week it was better. Oh and he also checked me
for a hernia but it was just scar tissue so its best to talk to the dr
before you do anything!! Good Luck
