Question:
I have two questions 1. Gallbladder surgery does this change the RNY, 2. has
I am one year out tomorrow RNY, did not reach my goal weight, then on June 29, 2009 I had to have my gallbladder removed, I am still in pain and all I do now is eat, I don't understand. My doc says go back to stage 4 and i should be fine, but it is not working. Has this happend to anyone else? i'm really scared and want to get Re_ stappled, i have seen the procedure on the "Doctors" they go in through your mouth, any one know of a doctor in MA that does it. Please let me know. — scottishlass (posted on September 8, 2009)

Perhaps there is a problem with your pouch. I have heard of the rare but
real problem of people developing a fistula or passage between their pouch
and their stomach, so it is like they never had surgery. Also, are you
getting good quality protein in at every meal and limiting those refined
carbs? I found I was hungry all of the time and it was partly due to
letting myself slip on the protein and eating too many "quick"
foods that are high in carbs. Remember, even protein bars can spike your
blood sugar and cause a crash that will make you hungry if they are very
high in carbs. I try to make sure the carb grams are not much more than
twice the protein grams. Otherwise, they just make me crash and get even
hungrier.

I had my RNY in 12-07. Eight months later on the fourth of July 08, I had
to have my gall bladder removed. I was the opposite of you tho. I lost my
appetite. I never dumped before having my gallbladder out. Ever since, I
cannot tolerate greasy foods. I can handle a little sugar here and there
but nooooo grease! Do what the Doc said and hang in there. I lost 1/2 of my
weight in my first year, and the other 1/2 in my second. It was slow, and I
hit some long plateaus. I was a "light weight" and 5'2",
with my top weight being 240, and surgery weight being 224. I weighed 113
this morning. I will be two years out 9/09. Now, I have to worry about not
losing anymore. Never thought that would happen! Take care!

I have not had WLS yet, but I did have my gall bladder out in 1984. I've
had no desire to eat fatty food since then.

I dont know if this will help you but, I had my RNY in Jan. 2009 and had
lost 112lbs when I found out my gallbladder needed to be removed on Aug.
14th I have not much of an appetite, or I may think Im hungry, take a bite
and throw it away. Also, I have lost about 10lbs since surgery, I am in
the bathroom all the time since my gallbladder removal! I noticed most
foods I could tolerate before the removal are not working for me now.....
but am thinking it will get better, as time goes on since the removal I
notice a slight difference daily. Good luck!
