Question:
Why does my wound keep oozing after 3.5 weeks?
My doctor said it wasn't infected but it is still sensitive and I am afraid to start exercising. Everything I do makes it ooze more. — cynskin (posted on August 29, 2009)

If it was where a drain may have been, it may just be an angry incision. I
had one. They're nasty. Just keep it clean. It'll heal up eventually. Good
luck

Mine was oozing a bit here and there also until it had no where to go and
busted through the surface one day, a bunch of oozing.... after this
happened the hole im my stomach had to be packed for a month almost everday
so it would shrink... this needs to be checked before the infection gets
into your blood. I didnt relaize how much oozing I had til the doc cut the
incision more so he could pack it. Better get checked again. There is a
name for this.

I had an oozing incision, also. It had actually healed up already, but
then "broke open" painlessly, and oozed what they called
"serum" for about 3 weeks....finally the doctor packed it - that
wasn't pleasant - and told me to repack it once a day, and it healed back
up in about a week.

how does he know its not infected? did he do a wound culture? sounds like
yo have an underlying infection ans possibly a dehisced wound. are u
currently on antibiotics? what are u doing to the site?

My incision oozed too. I didn't have a fever, smell, or anything. So I went
to a doctor I worked for, and he looked at it, and he said it was just
where there was trauma to my skin. He gave me an antibiotic for 7 days,
after the 2nd day it cleared up and scabbed over.
