Question:
How much weight will I lose?
I know this is a strange question but.. I am scheduled for the sleeve, I weigh 215 and am 5'4. I am wondering how much weight can I actually lose? — chappy2 (posted on August 16, 2009)

No we all wonder that at your stage. Anticitpation! I believe that the
sleeve only offers, restriction, not the malabsorbtion of RNY, so you will
be limited to how much you can eat. If you take care of your new stomach
and don't stretch it. You should have great benefits. Your about the size I
was when I had surgery. But I had RNY. I lost about 20 lb the first month.
Not as fast as some, because they called me a "light weight".
Anyway, Maybe some sleevers can give you a better idea. Good luck on your
journey, and new way of life!

Most patients loose at least 50% of their "excess" weight. If
that is achieved then the surgery is considered to be a success. Most do
loose more than that amount but it depends upon you. You must work your new
"tool" to get the maximum benefit by paying attention to what you
do eat and to exercising.

I have a comparison of weight loss procedures Performed at "Californai
Pacific Medicial Center" They are the doctors that did my RNY 3.5 yrs
ago.
According to the chart 60-70 excess weight loss at 2 yrs. If you click on
my profile and into my pictures I have unloaded the chart but you will need
to zoom in after you print it. But it is very good information. Let me
know if you need further assistance with this. This procedure is mostly
used with patients that have a BMI of 60 of more. This is used for the
high risk or very heavy patients. I can send you an email with the
navigation directions as to how to get to the chart via there website.

THere are no strange questions! Congratulations on your decision to lead a
happier healthier life. I was banded five years ago and that did not work
out well for me. I made the decision to get the sleeve about two months
ago. It is already the best decision I have ever made. The week prior to
surgery I was on an all liquid diet. I lost a pound a day (7 pounds). I
am a week post surgery, and have lost another seven. I started at 218 and
am down to 203. THe best advice I can give you is to follow the diet you
are given by your doctor and do not vary from it. If you do this, you can
loose all the weight you want to loose. If you cheat, you are are only
cheating yourself. Good luck and I know you will do well
