Question:
BAND SURGERY OUTSIDE THE U.S... is it hard to find a
doctor to take you on in the u.s when you had surgery outside the u.s? — chickie_mama (posted on February 5, 2009)

It wasn't for me. My surgeons office (in Tijuana, Mexico) gave me a list of
nearby bariatric centers that would do aftercare with me even though I had
surgery outside the country. Not all of them do that though. Do you own
research before booking your surgery and you're bound to find someone that
will help you locally with fills and aftercare. Fill Centers of USA is a
great start.

Dr Rumbaut's patient coordinator had a lit of local docs for me to use for
follow-up. But I did make sure BEFORE surgery I had someone local to use.

I had my surgery 10/2008 in Tijuana and was told I would be given a website
with where I could use an ID card and find a doctor. Well after several
emails and failed attempts to get this help Dr. Carlos told me the US
doctors were no longer recognizing the ID card. He said he would get back
to me with a doctor and never did. I got on line and started hunting for
doctors and after being turned down by 3 doctors because I had my surgery
in MX I finally found one very close to me and they are wonderful. Anyway
having said that just be persistent, dont give up and you will be able to
find a good doctor. Use this support site to help you. Make sure you start
soon after you return from you out of country surgery due it possibly
taking a while. Good luck to you.
