Question:
Had RNY Sept 26 & have lost about 35lbs so far. But have not lost ANYTHING,
in about 3 weeks?? Is this normal? I'm afraid I will not lose anymore and stay only lossing 35 lbs. — twinsplusone (posted on November 25, 2008)

relook at what food and exercise you are doing. have you added some new
food lately? What has changed in what you are doing? Stalls are normal.
You just have to re assess what you are doing to get it moving again.

I had the RNY on September 8 and have lost 38 pounds. I am also at a stand
still and have not lost any weight in the last 2 weeks. It is hard for me
to stay positive when I have so much more weight to lose. I am always
reading everything on this website to help keep me focused and on track. I
have read that you could be losing inches. Keep up the good work. I am
sure we both will reach our goal in time.

Don't worry! I had my surgery done mid october, lost 14 Lbs over the 2
first weeks, than NOTHING the 2nd, NOTHING the 3rd, NOTHING the 4th! How
can you plateau on the 3rd week after surgery, when you can't even really
cheat, even if you wanted to? Well, I don't know, but the next week I lost
almost 3 Lbs, and this week I'm already down almost 2 Lbs (my official
weight in day in on Friday...)!
The only thing I modified is the amount of water. Simple but efficient... I
force myself into having close to 100 Oz of liquids
a day. So keep up the good work, it will pay off...on it's own schedule!

I too had my surgery in Sept. On the 16th I also have been seeing some
weight loss stalls as well. I went close to two weeks without loosing then
the scale will buge and I'll see a lower number. I just have to remind
myself how it felt twenty or thirty pounds ago when I was feeling the same
exact way! No matter what weight we are at we are gonna forever be worrying
that this is it, no more loss for me! When the truth is YOU WILL go down!

Hang in there! I had my surgery July 2, and lost for the first 5 weeks.
Then I went on a plateau for almost 7 weeks, but finally started to lose
again. Don't let the scale rule you! Your body is trying to adjust to the
trauma from the surgery and it will start dropping the weight again when it
is ready. Plateaus are common, albeit annoying. Just keep following
everything your doc and nut have told you. Good luck and God Bless!

My surgery was 10/28. I have lost about 21 lbs., but the last week have
only lost 1.5 lbs. I drink water, exercise and eat my protein, take vits
and I am doing everything right. I called the dr. and he said don't worry
your body will catch up. He also told me to try to keep my stress down.
Good luck fellow newbie!!

You have stalls are you sticking to your fluid regimen? That is important.
And are you eating something different? Remember exercise is also
important. If you continue to seem stalled go to your physician and find
out if something else is going on.
