Question:
Anyone have one of the surgeons at UMAss University recently?

My PCP recommended the top surgeon but then I learned that he has a good size waiting list. So I wanted to keep my options open but wanted to know if anyone had any good or bad experiences recently with ANY of the surgeons. Thanks    — psturgill (posted on June 5, 2008)

My mother In law at her RNY Bypass surgery at Umass. The doctors and PA's are very nice. They were wonderful and helpful to us as the family while she was in the OR. I myself didn't have my surgery there. I had my surgery at Brigham and Womens in Boston with Dr Malcolm Robinson. He works out of Faulkner and Brigham. He is great and would recommend him too if you are in that area.

Like you, I'm from NH (Manchester). I had my surgery at Tufts Medical Center by Dr. Julie Kim. I loved her! There are 3 surgeons at that facility. They are all excellent. My experience at Tufts has and continues to be nothing less than great. Their preop and post-op support systems are also very good. I started the WLS process on June 5th of last year and had the surgery on September 17th, a little over 3 months -- not bad. So my point is that if you don't want to wait, you could check out Tufts. By the way, it's a Center of Excellence.

Hi Paula, I had my surgery at St. Elizabeths Medical Center in Brighton and Dr. Nicole Pecquex and her team were great. I can't say enough wonderful things about the whole team, including recovery. My friend had his surgery at Burlington Lahey and he had a great experience also. Experienced surgeons at both facilities reinforced the choices we made for our lifestyle change and tool selection for weight loss. Best of luck.

Hey there, just little knowledge I would also like to share with you. I am meeting with Dr. Randall in Medford, MA with Lawrence Memorial Hospital, I totaly recomend him. I have had about 5 friends go through him and wouldnt change a thing. Getting your first apt with him can be a little langthy but if you can get in with Dr. Randall I would wait for it. Just a thought Good luck in whatever you choose.

Hi Paula, I had my surgery at UMass Memorial on 3/24/08. My surgeon was Dr. Czerniach. I'm assuming that you are talking about Dr. Kelly. He's the head surgeon and yes, he does have a waiting list. I found Dr. Czerniach to be wonderful. My sister-in-law also had her surgery at UMass and her surgeon was Dr. Perugini. She raves about him as well. If you have any other questions, please let me know (send me a message). Jessica

I would NOT go to Dr. Robinson, I did so and when I needed help he told me it was not his problem.
